Challenge

One of the key challenges was designing a peer-led experience that remained engaging and safe. We had to avoid the pitfalls of traditional community features like open group chats, which often become inactive or chaotic. Ensuring accountability in peer-only spaces was difficult- especially with no formal moderation. Another challenge was keeping it lightweight and inclusive for users at different experience levels. We also had to balance enough structure to drive consistency, without turning the experience into a course since ADPList is not an e-learning platform.

Objective

The solution needed to stay true to ADPList’s values of trust, safety, and accessibility, while being simple enough to scale across a global community. It also had to fit within the platform’s existing ecosystem -avoiding traditional course models or mentor-led sessions, and instead empowering members to support each other with light structure, consistency, and accountability.

Results

The cohort feature introduced a new way for ADPList members to connect and grow through structured, peer-driven experiences. It allowed users to stay motivated, build habits (like daily UI practice), and receive feedback in a safe and supportive space - all without needing mentors or formal instructors. The solution can expand the platform’s value beyond 1:1 mentorship, making it more engaging for both new and returning users. It also laid the foundation for community-led learning at scale, with a system that could be iterated upon using data from cohort participation, feedback activity, and user retention.
